La Mercy

Salt Rock

The small town of Salt Rock is situated north of Ballito and Shaka's Rock on the KwaZulu Natal north coast, and is a very popular seaside holiday destination. Salt Rock owes much of its history to Basil Hulett and his wife Gwen who started not only the Salt Rock Hotel but went on to develop the town of Salt Rock that is found today. Tinley Manor

Approximately 13km north of Ballito lies the hamlet of Tinley Manor which has not yet been affected by the push of development and still regarded as an area with ‘growth potential’ by property gurus. The name Hulett is well known in the north coast area. Liege Hulett bought land at Mt Moreland, Compensation and then 3000 hectares north of the Umhlali River in 1901 and named the new estate Tinley Manor where the first Hulett sugar mill was erected. Westbrook beach is situated on the KwaZulu-ntal north coast approximately 15km north of Umhlanga and approximately 10km south of Ballito. The beach is ideal for swimming, with lifeguards on duty and there are frequent visits from dolphins and whales.
